There had been a buzz amongst the Eastman student body in anticipation of Steve Gadd's -68'E- return to Eastman this past Friday, October 14th with Chick Corea in Kodak Hall.

The two performed music from their upcoming album entitled Chinese Butterfly, and prior to the performance, the two were presented Honorary Doctorates from Dean Jamal Rossi, and President Joel Seligman. The last honorary degree presented by Eastman was in 2015.

For everyone in the room, the moment was especially touching when Steve Gadd, an Irondequoit native, was honored.

Steve Gadd is one of Eastman's most well known alumni. Frequently referred to as "one of the most sought after studio musicians in the world," Gadd has recorded with a range of artists including Aretha Franklin, Stanley Clarke, and Frank Sinatra.

Chick Corea is regarded as one of the great living jazz pianists. Corea currently has 64 Grammy Nominations and 22 Grammy Awards. He began his studies at Columbia and then transferred to Juilliard, only to drop out after six months. Chick Corea recorded with names such as Miles Davis, Stan Getz, and Blue Mitchell.
